Caparo T1 video

Just listen to the sweet, sweet sound of this beast:
If you’re unfamiliar with this car, let’s start out by saying that, no, it’s not strictly “green,” but as far as hypercars go, it’s as green as you can get right now. The T1 is based on the same principal as MIKOVA Systems’ Acabion - relatively high power combined with very low weight.

Thanks to its 3.5 litre naturally-aspirated, 358kW V8 motor and it’s low 470kg curb weight, the T1 has a power-to-weight ratio of 1000bhp/ton . This is double that of a Bugatti Veyron, allowing the Caparo to hit 100km/h from standstill in a shade over 2.5 seconds, and 160km/h in a Veyron-beating 5 seconds. Its low mass will ensure that the Caparo’s fuel consumption figures are significantly better than the Veyron’s 34-125l/100km.

In a nutshell, if your priority is to be faster than anyone else on the road, this is the greenest way to achieve that (unless the rather outlandish performance claims made by the Acabion’s creators turn out to be true.).

I can’t believe that’s street legal! Do you think we’ll look back nostalgically when the only legal cars emit an electric hum? It certainly sounds the part! I’ve tagged you with a “Bloggers for Positive Global Change” award! Check the details at www.urbansprout.co.za. Cheers, Glen.
