Electric Fetish

Good news for millionaires who want an electric sports car, but don’t want to wait until next year’s release of the Tesla Roadster - French automaker, Venturi’s Fetish has been on sale for a couple of years now. The Fetish can lay claim to the enviable title of the world’s first electric sports car in production. For those who want ultimate exclusivity, the Fetish is hard to beat. It’s not only an arguably better-looking machine than the Tesla, but only 25 of these cars are being sold to the public.

The Fetish is powered by a 180kW, centrally-mounted electric motor that runs off of 31 Lithium-ion battery modules. It has a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration of under 5 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 160km/h. The Fetish has a range of 250km and it can be fully charged in 1 hour using its 3-phase external charge unit or in 3-4 hours using a conventional power socket.

In keeping with its price tage of US $400 000 (four times more than a Tesla), the car features an advanced composite carbon-aluminium honeycomb chassis and carbon fibre body construction. The Fetish is neither as fast as the Tesla, nor does it have as long of a range, but it’s certainly better looking and more exclusive, which might be all that’s needed to attract 25 very lucky buyers.

Nice looking car, pretty pricey though.

That Tesla doesn’t look too bad either. I’ve never really had a look at one before.
