Honda Hybrids, follow up
Well, I got a reply from Honda within a day of my mail to them. It’s kinda non-committal, but better than nothing, I guess.

We are investigating bringing a hybrid to South Africa, but do not have a suitable product available (in terms of price as well as availability) to us at present. We will investigate the suitability of any new products for the local market and will request local availability should they be suitable for SA. Until then, we will continue with our range of engines that are designed to limit both emissions and fuel consumption to the lowest possible levels.

At least it would appear that Honda SA are open to bringing hybrids in at a later date. Time will tell when this date is.
