The un-green electric car

Battery powered cars are a good idea, right? Well, in light of the Oxyride Racer the answer to that question has to be “not necessarily”.

The 38kg carbon fibre car has just entered the Guinness Book of Records for the fastest battery car, having averaged 105.95km/h over a 1km course. The catch is, it was powered by 192 disposable Panasonic AA batteries. Great concept that one… a disposable battery powered car. At least the Tesla and Lightning GT have nothing to worry about just yet.
