Top Gear interview: Elon Musk
Tesla Motors’ chairman, South African expat Elon Musk, has recently been interviewed in Top Gear. It’s quite a lengthy and informative article and it’s cranked up my excitement meter yet another notch.
I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that in 20 years’ time Tesla Motors is going to be a major player in the global automotive industry. Their “WhiteStar” executive saloon is planned for launch in 2009, and then a high volume family car (costing about $30 000) will be launched in about 2011. So in other words, if all goes well, I’ll be driving an electric car in 5 years’ time. That should give me sufficient time to install a solar power generation system in my house while I’m waiting for delivery of my Tesla sedan.
